Guitarist and composer Peter Sprague brings together an extraordinary eight-piece ensemble featuring a classical string trio, a jazz quartet, and the expressive flute artistry of Beth Ross Buckley. Blending Brazilian rhythms, jazz improvisation, and the timeless influence of Bach, the group creates a distinctive musical landscape unlike any other.
At the heart of the music are Sprague’s original compositions and imaginative arrangements, weaving together diverse traditions into a sound that is both sophisticated and engaging.
The ensemble's debut recording, The Wild Blue (2009), earned widespread acclaim and led to the prestigious Chamber Music America New Jazz Works Grant in 2010. Through that award, Sprague composed the large-scale work Dr. Einstein’s Spin, inspired by and dedicated to Albert Einstein. Following numerous performances of the piece, the group recorded it for their second album, Dr. Einstein’s Spin, further expanding their unique fusion of chamber music and jazz.
