from Bach to expressionism

Love, Light and Longing brings audiences on a musical journey from Bach’s baroque world to early twentieth-century expressionism, exploring the very human themes of love and yearning that echo through the ages.

From the luminous elegance of Bach's Sonata in G Minor to the haunting world of Alban Berg's Nacht, each work offers a different window into the heart. Internationally acclaimed soprano Tasha Hokuao Koontz returns to Camarada to perform the intimate songs of Hugo Wolf, while contemporary composer Negin Zomorodi's The Birth of a Shadow explores transformation and self-discovery through the striking pairing of soprano and alto flute. Cellist Ruslan Biryukov performs selections from Max Reger's Suite in G Major for Solo Cello, before the evening concludes with Brahms' beloved Two Songs for Soprano, Viola and Piano.

Blending music, poetry, visual art, and narration, Love, Light and Longing reminds us that while the centuries may separate us, the emotions that define us remain the same.
