World premiere by Andrés Martín

Camarada presents Living Legacy at the San Diego Museum of Art, celebrating the Museum's centennial with an extraordinary evening of music and visual art at the epicenter of San Diego’s cultural district.

At the heart of the program is the world premiere of a newly commissioned concerto by acclaimed composer and bassist Andrés Martín, generously sponsored by Zoraida and Gary Payne and dedicated to the Museum's 100th anniversary. The evening also features the unveiling of a newly commissioned stop-motion animated work by renowned Mexican artist Hugo Crosthwaite, creating a compelling dialogue between sound and image.

In a landmark binational collaboration, the Orquesta de Baja California joins the Camarada Tango Quartet, celebrating artistic innovation and the cultural ties between the United States and Mexico. Together, these artists present a program that honors a century of artistic achievement while looking boldly toward the region’s artistic future.

Featuring the Camarada Tango Quartet - flutist Beth Ross Buckley, violinist David Buckley, pianist Dana Burnett, and double bassist and composer Andrés Martín - alongside artist Hugo Crosthwaite and the Orquesta de Baja California, Living Legacy is a celebration of creative partnership, cross-border collaboration, and the transformative power of the arts to connect communities.

Join us for this historic evening as Camarada celebrates the San Diego Museum of Art's centennial with world premieres, groundbreaking visual art, and an unforgettable musical experience that honors the past while inspiring the future.
