Camarada Closes Season 31 with Bossa Nova in Jobim: Portrait in Black & White

Jazz legend Peter Sprague and renowned vocalist Allison Adams Tucker lead a magical tour through Antônio Carlos Jobim’s greatest hits.

San Diego, CA (April 18, 2026) — Following their sold-out performances of Charlie Brown Jingles & JAZZ, Peter Sprague and the Camarada team return to the Conrad Prebys Performing Center for Jobim: Portrait in Black & White, a program filled with hits by Brazilian bossa nova legend, Antônio Carlos Jobim. The evening will feature brand-new, jazz-infused arrangements by Sprague himself, performed alongside vocalist Allison Adams Tucker, flutist and Camarada Artistic Director Beth Ross Buckley, Tripp Sprague on flute and saxophone, Mackenzie Leighton on double bass, Danny Green on piano, and Duncan Moore on percussion.

Audiences will recognize these familiar tunes melded seamlessly with an improvisational jazz twist, celebrating the musical legacy of Jobim in an evening of hypnotic bossa nova beats. The evening will celebrate the silky elegance of Jobim’s harmonies and feature irresistible samba grooves, reimagined by the ever-creative Camarada ensemble. From the iconic charm of “The Girl From Ipanema” to the soulful beauty of “Zingaro - Portrait in Black and White,” “Passarim,” “One Note Samba,” and more, every note pulses with warmth, rhythm, and romance.
