Camarada returns to Mingei International Museum as Artists-in-Residence with a new program inspired by the winter season.
San Diego, CA (November 16, 2025) — Back for another season as Artists-in-Residence at Mingei International Museum, Camarada combines gorgeous chamber music classics, a brand-new commission, and culinary and artistic experiences in the heart of Balboa Park with A Winter’s Light, on Thursday, December 11. Featuring music by Corelli, Brahms, and Vaughn Williams alongside a piece by rising young composer Oliviana Marie, A Winter’s Light celebrates the stillness, sparkle, and spirit of the winter season. Camarada Artistic Directors Beth Ross Buckley on flute and Dana Burnett on piano are joined by David Buckley on violin, and Ruslan Biryukov on cello.
“This intimate program is crafted to evoke the wonder of winter, a time when nature slows and music becomes a source of deep connection,” says Beth Ross Buckley. “The concert is built around the world premiere of Oliviana Marie’s Ether, a piece that captures the ethereal stillness of winter.” Oliviana Marie, one of Camarada’s 2025-2026 Composers’ Circle featured composers, will also be in attendance to discuss her work.
The concert takes place at Mingei International Museum’s state-of-the-art concert space. Doors open at 7:00 PM with a downbeat at 7:30 PM, and guests are also welcome to explore the world-class exhibitions at the museum prior to the concert. Tickets to A Winter’s Light include admission to Mingei International Museum.
Camarada is also proud to partner with the Michelin-recognized ARTIFACT signature restaurant at Mingei to offer patrons an exclusive pre-concert prix fixe dinner experience in the heart of Balboa Park. ARTIFACT features renowned craft cooking inspired by ancient methods, spices, and botanicals, and it is located at the entry level of Mingei International Museum. Reservations will be available starting between 5:00 PM and 6:15 PM, and the three-course menu is priced at $65/person.
