Executive Director Letter

2018-19 Season Welcome

Dear CAMARADA Friends,

Music has always been a form of magic for me. There is just something about it that pulls me in.

I grew up in the Midwest where almost everyone pursues some form of a musical outlet – piano, band or chorus – or even more common – all 3! I begged to start my piano lessons in 2nd grade with Sister Carmella. She was super tough – one did not go to lessons without practicing – well, at least I didn’t! I grew to love my lessons and appreciate her teaching skills and delight in music of all kinds.

After a few years of piano foundations I started to play the flute. I have always loved to practice – growing up on a farm in Minnesota, there wasn’t much else to do. My days were pretty simple – chores, homework, play with my cats and practice!

I am thrilled to share the magic of music with all of you. After CAMARADA concerts our audience often comments that they feel uplifted. This heightened sense of well being comes from experiencing great music in community with others, which is the power of live music performance, especially in an intimate setting.

This is one very important part of the music magic – and the reason Camarada exists.

I look forward to meeting all of you – I truly love talking with all of you after the concerts!

With your support, our musical endeavors are elevated to a new level. Thank you for making CAMARADA a San Diego tradition as we celebrate our new season of phenomenal music and art presentations.

In Gratitude,

Beth Ross Buckley, CAMARADA Executive Director
