CABERNET CONCERT SERIES The Sound of Color
April 25 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Experience the bountiful hues of flute, saxophone and piano in this program dedicated to the prisms of sound and color. Alexander Scriabin’s mesmerizing Etude in C# minor highlights his obsession with the color of sound. Scriabin composed in a “counterpoint of light” – he heard sound as literal color, which is known as synesthesia. Alto in Violet, a Homage to Jimi Hendrix’s music for solo saxophone, electrifies this program by illuminating a bit of purple haze to our prism.
Rounding out the colorful music is Russell Peterson’s highly-charged Trio which incorporates jazz & classical + Pierre Sancan’s enchanting Sonatine for flute and piano and Charles Koechlin’s Epitaph for Jean Harlow is also featured reflecting his fascination for Hollywood and film.
Beth Ross Buckley, flute
Todd Rewoldt, saxophone
