CAMARADA @ THE ATHENAEUM Baroque & Blue
April 12 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm$30 – $35
This evening of music offers an all-embracing list of composers and merging of musical styles. The A minor Suite for flute by Telemann includes zestful dances of French, Italian and Polish origins underlining Telemann’s cosmopolitanism. Selections from Bolling’s irresistible crossover Suite for Classical Flute and Jazz Trio will be paired with Alec Wilder’s Flute and Bongo’s No.1. Alec Wilder, often a misunderstood and ignored composer is a maverick but truly an American original as is the final composer on the program George Gershwin. Gershwin’s Lullaby for string quartet along with selections from his Porgy and Bess Suite for violin and piano, arranged by Jascha Heifetz will round out this integration of jazz and classical compositions.
